Play Therapy
Art Therapy is a mental health profession that allows children to utilize creative energy to help express current conflicts, feelings and thoughts. By working with a trained Art Therapist children can learn to rely on certain creative outlets to help cope and solve whatever issues they may be struggling with. Art Therapy includes various mediums to assist with those struggling with sensory issues. Please visit the American Art Therapy Association (www.arttherapy.org) for further information.

At PAINT THE STARS ART THERAPY, we take care to provide our families with high quality services— personalized for their unique needs. We work with children and young adults ages 3 through 22 and customize each therapy experience to ensure progress and positive change.

We provide a variety of services in addition to traditional psychotherapy including:
Sand-tray Therapy (also known as sandplay) is related to the world of Play Therapy and is based off both Jung and Kalff theories. Children have always enjoyed the act of playing in sand. By playing upon this idea children use various toys and tools to create a world that is all their own. This technique specifically enhances the concept of storytelling in which a child may make up a story that relates to what they may be going through. This technique is particularly effective with those that have experienced specific traumas or emotional difficulties. For more information please visit: http://www.sandplay.org/index.htm
Play Therapy comes from the basic idea that children universally can communicate through the act of playing. Regardless of race, language, culture, socioeconomic class or other forms of classification, all children know what it is to play. In this practice play therapy is used as an ice-breaker tool to help children feel comfortable and safe. As many parents know, a specific toy or play-time scenario can often ease a child's mind and allow them to settle into a new environment. For additional information visit: http://www.a4pt.org/
